Do you remember being 13? It’s a great age. You’re getting into the teen years and you think you’re  grown up. This was a fun cake to create. Made for one of my favorite customer’s. She wanted something special and bright to mark her niece’s 13th birthday. LeAnn's 13th Birthday

I baked a 9″ 3 layer chocolate cake and a single 5″ for the top and iced them in vanilla butter cream. I made wired stars and a 13 to go on the top, covered the tiers in swirls and dots. I took small beads in shades of purple and strung them on wires to go with the stars. My customer was delighted with the cake which made me very happy also.

Bridal Shower

The customer didn’t want a lot of decorations  but she did want it to look like a bridal cake. This is what i came up with. I made large & small fondant hearts dusted them with silver, the pink flowers were cut from fondant. I placed 2 small doves in the center and covered the rest with a lace design. Flavor was a classic butter cake with vanilla butter cream.

Josh & Lindsay's wedding cake

This was another beautiful wedding reception held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst. Lindsay’s color theme was a favorite of mine, blue and brown. A few of the special touches for the guest was  a  candy bar and a carriage with the “fringe on top” to use for pictures. The couple also arrived at the reception in a horse drawn carriage decorated with flowers. A classic yellow butter cake was there choice, iced in a vanilla butter cream. Each tier was wrapped in a cocoa brown ribbon and decorated with blue dots. Fresh white roses and a crystal bride and groom were added for that special touch. Below are a few pictures taken before the guests arrived.Tables at reception            Candy Barclose-up of ornament    Fringed Carrige

They also had a grooms cake that was served at the rehearsal dinner on Friday night. The yellow butter sheet cake was decorated with a fun “ball & chain” theme with chocolate frosting. The ball was also cake. Grooms Cake

 Baby Boy Christening

The Mother found a design on another website and asked me to use it as inspiration for her sons cake.  She wanted a few additions added to it since they were Irish, like the white shamrocks. The cake was iced in a soft blue butter cream. The cross,  monogram and shamrocks  were made of fondant and the tiny piping  was white butter cream.

James and Murtis have been loyal customers of mine for many years and i  was so pleased when they asked me to bake and decorate there 50th Wedding Anniversary cake. They were also renewing their wedding vows. The classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream was there choice and the design was an old fashioned ruffle drape with bows, topped with a 50th ornament. Beautiful fresh roses and babies breath were added between the tiers. The reception was held at the Little River Country Club.

Hester Wedding Cake

I’m not sure what to name this cake design so i’ll  just call it “rings”. The bride found a picture for the inspiration for this cake. I’m not sure who came up with the original idea, i hope i did it justice. It was very labor intensive with all the different ring sizes and dots. I thought it looked a little plain with no ornament or flowers but the customer was pleased with how it turned out and that’s what counts. The flavors were classic yellow butter cake with vanilla butter cream. The reception was held at the Fair Barn in Pinehurst. The black and white theme was very striking . The fresh flowers  by a  Charlotte florist (sorry i don’t have their name) Flowers at reception were both beautiful and colorful for the B&W theme.     table setup

A Shower of Blue

Bridal Shower

This was a fun cake to do. Since it was a square (10″) I decided to make it look like a gift box for the bridal shower. I iced the top in blue, and  used a large rose tip to create a band around the top edge to make it look like a box lid.  The sides i iced in white with blue swirls. The bow and tiny blue flowers are fondant, the white roses are butter cream. Flavors were marble cake with raspberry butter cream filling and vanilla frosting.
